Spanning segments of the three ahupuaʻa of ʻOnomea, Alakahi (“one way”) and Kahaliʻi, Maluhia Farms is a biodiverse kipuka of multipurpose plant species. The majority of these plants serve a culinary, medicinal, and/or ethnobotanical function. Integrating traditional ecological knowledge with modern regenerative agricultural practices, this eco-retreat master plan (nested in a highly productive farmscape) combined food and resource production and processing, endemic and indigenous habitat restoration, intimate living spaces, outdoor dining and live music, and educational and social gathering areas. The farmscape inspires an appreciation for nature, while functioning as a culinary and botanical refugia.
