VOLCANO VILLAGE
A native-restoration design integrating endemic Hawaiian plants into a 1/2-acre residential parcel.

Private Residence | Volcano, HI
The client sought a native-restoration plant palette consisting of plants endemic to the Kīlauea summit area. The selected design concept integrated palapalai ferns as the predominant ground cover along with mid- and upper-story endemic trees and shrubs. The installation involved transitioning thousands of pounds of Himalayan ginger out of the 1/2-acre parcel and installing a network of gravel paths throughout the site enabling easy access to the native plantings.
